It is so easy to be consumed by our digital devices. Every Sunday my iPad posts what my average usage was in the past week. Yikes–sometimes my screen time is outrageous. So…we at BoomerTECH Adventures urge you to take a break and get outside.
To inspire you, we’re posting some photos from Boomer Guide Chris Toy’s adventures across Maine. In fact, he is a registered Maine Guide so the first photos are from his trips up Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park. If you have completed a trek of the entire Appalachian Trail, you have been there! When you climb with Chris, you also eat very well because he prepares gourmet meals at the campsite.

Here is he is on the Mountain!
Katahdin mean “greatest mountain” and is the tallest mountain in the state of Maine at 5,269 feet. The mountain is sacred in the traditions of the Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot nations.

The Knife’s Edge–Not for the faint of heart!

An “asylum” of loons on Togue Pond in Baxter Park.
As mentioned above, Chris is a great chef and teaches cooking all over Maine. Here is the view from one of his venues. Technically it’s not in Maine, but at the Roosevelt Campobello International Park in New Brunswick.

Let’s travel south to Merrymeeting Bay which is the largest freshwater estuary system north of Chesapeake Bay.

August “golden hour” sunset over Merrymeeting Bay. Looking from North Bath across Butler Cove to Brick Island with Bowdoinham in the background.

August full moon setting over Merrymeeting Bay just before dawn.
Whether you are in Maine or elsewhere, wild life is all around us. Take time to go slowly and see what you can spy.

Blue heron sampling the local fish.

A Maine monarch sampling the local pollen.

Ruby throated hummingbird also sampling Maine’s offerings.
Summer is on the wane, but the glorious fall colors are not in the too distant future. Turn off your phone, put your computer to sleep, get outside and experience our glorious natural world.
All photographs were taken by Chris Toy on his iPhone (Except the first one–a fellow climber took it using Chris’s iPhone). Nothing here was generated by AI!
